TROOP 23 ONLINE....... About the Troop 23 Web Project |
The Project
The goal of TROOP
23 ONLINE is to provide a presence
the World Wide Web with useful information that pertains to BSA Troop 23 and its
activities. The site is constantly being updated and changed to make it better for you.
Direct comments, suggestions, questions, corrections, encouragement and complements to the
webmaster.
This project was begun by Tyler Barg, an Eagle Scout from Troop 23. Tyler started the web site while still a student in high school, spending countless hours of hard work writing code and debugging. Tyler's original site can still be viewed at http://troop-23.webjump.com. In order to give Tyler more time to work on his Eagle and concentrate on getting through his senior year of high school, Bob Gunnells took over the duties of webmaster in March of 2001.
The Technology
The original home for the web site was on the webjump.com server. The site was moved to
the space provided to subscribers of AOL in March of 2001. Although this was an
improvement, working with AOL was cumbersome, plus TROOP 23 ONLINE
soon outgrew the available space. The search was begun to find a larger,
more manageable home for the site. In May of 2001, space was acquired on the WWW.BSATroops.org server and TROOP 23 ONLINE
moved to it's current location.
The site is composed with Microsoft FrontPage and then tested with Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape, and AOL 6.0. We also test the site on two different size monitors. We want to make the site viewable by as many people as possible. If your browser is having trouble with this site, drop a note to the webmaster. Be sure to include details.
This site is not an official site of the Boy Scouts of America, and it's author(s) and BSA Troop 23 do not presume to speak for the policies of the Boy Scouts of America nor for the various organizations who sponsor BSA Troop 23. While every effort has been made to insure the accuracy of the information, ideas, and opinions that you will find on these pages, it should be understood that errors can occur. Every effort has been made to insure the accuracy and currency of notices to Scouts, Scouters, and Parents that are listed here, but the only OFFICIAL place to get information about local events is at the Council Office. or from the Scoutmasters of BSA Troop 23.
